The IMEKO story: how CHEFEAT grew out of the first TPU cutting boards

CHEFEAT · Company history · Updated August 4, 2026

Quick answer: CHEFEAT didn't appear from nowhere. The same family company from Padova, Italy has been making TPU cutting boards since 2019 — first under the IMEKO brand, which earned 2,700+ customer ratings on Amazon. CHEFEAT is the second-generation board, rebuilt around the one thing customers asked for most: make it bigger.

Every product page tells you what a thing is. This page tells you where it came from — because in a category flooded with brands that appeared last month, six years of making one product is the most honest credential we have.

2019: betting on a material nobody used for cutting boards

When we prepared our first product photography in February 2019, TPU — thermoplastic polyurethane, an abrasion-resistant elastomer used in medical devices and baby products — was not a cutting board material. Boards were wood, bamboo, glass or rigid plastic. We bet that TPU's combination of knife-friendliness, flexibility and dishwasher resilience belonged in the kitchen, and launched the first IMEKO TPU boards on Amazon that year.

2023: the rebuild — CHEFEAT

Instead of stretching the old product, we rebuilt it. CHEFEAT launched in late 2023 as the second generation of the same idea: extra large 17.3″ × 12.6″ — a working surface, not a mat — extra thick 0.14″ for stability, double-sided, with a juice groove. Same material philosophy, same maker, same factory relationships built since 2019 — bigger board.

One company, two brands. IMEKO and CHEFEAT are both brands of the same family company from Padova, Italy. Same founder, same production, same standards. IMEKO remains our registered trademark and our first generation; CHEFEAT is where everything we learned went.
